Treasurer - Mark Appel

Mark Appel is Senior Vice President of the International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR). ICDR is the international division of the American Arbitration Association (AAA), the world’s largest provider of private dispute prevention, conflict management and dispute resolution services and education to corporations, individuals and governments since 1926. A member of the Association’s senior management team, Mr. Appel is charged with primary responsibility for operations in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Mr. Appel routinely provides advice and assistance to businesses and government regarding the design of dispute resolution systems utilising arbitration, mediation and other forms of out-of-court dispute resolution. An experienced mediator, Mr. Appel has conducted negotiation, mediation and arbitration skills training for ICDR, the International Bar Association and various government agencies, courts and bar associations globally.

Mr. Appel is the Treasurer of the International Mediation Institute as well as serving as a member of the Board of Directors. He is also a member of the Forum of Mediation Centres, Union Internationale des Avocats. Previous activities include service as one of two Observers to the Mass Claims Steering Committee of the Permanent Court of Arbitration, The Hague.

Mr. Appel received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Manhattan College and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Denver College of Law.
