Mediation Profile

Allie is a mediator, mentor, trainer and coach with experience living and working in numerous countries. She began her formal mediation career in 2007 and currently mediates international family disputes and cross border child abduction cases in association with the International Mediation Centre for Family Conflict and Child Abduction. Allie broadened her mediation practice to include workplace disputes, engaging individuals and teams across a variety of industries.

Over the past several years Allie has resourced dispute resolution competitions, acting as a competition judge and trainer, and enjoys mentoring undergraduate students throughout the year. She completed her Post-graduate studies in Conflict and Dispute Resolution at Trinity College Dublin and regularly extends her knowledge base by participating in ongoing learning and training in a variety of areas.

Over the past 13 years, Allie has mediated at the coalface with families, communities and businesses in conflict. She began her mediation career establishing a pioneering intergenerational family mediation service in London, engaging marginalised youth and their families. This deepened her interest in better understanding conflict systems. Whilst living in South Africa she delivered training in the areas of mediation, conflict transformation and human rights to a variety of stakeholders and conducted participatory research in the areas of peacebuilding and inclusion in several African countries.

Since returning to Europe in 2015 her mediation practice has focused on the areas of international family separation, workplace and community level disputes. Allie offers coaching to individuals, is an active mentor and participates as a judge and trainer at mediation competitions.

The circumstances which bring parties to mediation are always unique. Allie's approach to mediation therefore considers and responds to the individual needs of the parties and the context of their dispute. Her bespoke approach draws from a predominantly facilitative style. She believes that when parties spend time exploring and understanding their unmet needs, movement towards resolution is both possible and sustainable.

Living and working in a variety of countries has exposed Allie to a range of cultures and communication styles, leaving her with a more nuanced awareness of what is said and not said. She has a relaxed and friendly style, and an insatiable curiosity to better understand people, and their differences and similarities.
