Mr. Arkin mediates in the areas of Personal Injury/Insurance, Estates, Employment, and Commercial Matters (Civil Litigation).  He obtained his LL.M. (ADR, 2002) from Osgoode Hall Law School and his B.A. (1969) and LL.B. (1972) from the University of Manitoba. He was called to the Manitoba Bar (1973) and the Ontario Bar (1995). As Mediator with Financial Services Commission of Ontario he was responsible for Accident Benefit Motor Vehicle Mediation for the Ontario Government. Mr. Arkin was formerly associated with Rye & Partners in Toronto, the Winnipeg law firms of Duboff, Edwards, Haight & Schachter, and Oliver, Derksen, Arkin; Thompson, Dorfman, Sweatman; and, Aikins, MacAulay & Thorvaldson. He is a Chartered Mediator (C. Med. 2001), and from 2000 to May, 2006, a member of the Board of Directors, ADR Institute of Ontario ("ADRIO"). For a portion of that time Mr. Arkin served as V.P. Education of ADRIO, and as a member of ADRIO's Course Certification Accreditation Committee. Also during a portion of that time, he served on the Dispute Resolution Advisory Committee for York University, was an ad hoc member of the C. Med. Designation Accreditation Committee for ADRIO, and served as a coach for Osgoode Hall law student mediators in Small Claims Court.  Mr. Arkin has expertise in the areas of insurance, personal injury & administrative law as Government Mediator. He is also experienced in corporate/commercial law, real estate (commercial & residential), condominium law, employment law, wills, estates and trusts, family business, elder law, and not for profit law.  Mr. Arkin was appointed as a part time Lawyer Member to the Consent & Capacity Board of Ontario for a 3 year term (2006 - 2009).  He has conducted over 7400 mediations:  with the Financial Services Commission of Ontario ("FSCO") (2000 -2016) , as a Roster Mediator with the Ontario Mandatory Mediation Program in Toronto and Ottawa (since 1999), in his private ADR practice (since 1999),  as a Roster Mediator with the Automobile Injury Mediation Office ("AIM") in Winnipeg with the Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation ("MPIC") (2011 - 2015).  In January, 2017, Mr. Arkin was appointed to the Discipline and Appeal Committees of the Real Estate Council of Ontario ("RECO").

Mr. Arkin has conducted over 7000 mediations as a mediator with: the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, as a Roster Mediator with the Ontario Mandatory Mediation Program in Toronto and Ottawa, and as well, in his private ADR practice. His private ADR practice includes the areas of: motor vehicle and personal injury, disability claims, insurance disputes; employment issues; civil/commercial matters.

Mr. Arkin was a panelist on the issue of “The Need for Impartiality and Cultural Sensitivity” for the Inaugural Fair Hearing Conference presented by Federated Press in Toronto, September 29 and 30, 2010.  He was Co-Chair and panelist for the second Fair Hearing Conference held in Toronto on September 12 and 13, 2011 and the seventh conference April 21 and 22, 2015.  He has been a panelist and presenter with the Ontario Bar Association's ADR programs in Mediation Mentorship and Mediation Bootcamps.
