President of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators 2010. 

Joe is an experienced practitioner in Mediation, Conciliation, Arbitration and Adjudication with a wide ranging practice in Ireland and Europe. 

He is an approved course director and trainer respectively for the Mediation, and Arbitration entry courses. In addition he acts as faculty and assessor on the Mediation Accreditation Training Course. 

He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators since 1999 and a Mediation Fellow since 2008. 

Joe is a practitioner member of Mediators Institute Ireland and is a council member of the Irish Commercial Mediation Association

Through Behan Dispute Resolution (www.disputeresolution.ie) he delivers Mediation Training Programmes including modules at Maynooth University in Ireland. 

Joe is a Fellow of Engineers Ireland. 

Joe is a member and former treasurer of the Association of Consulting Forensic Engineers and has extensive experience as an expert witness for over 20 years. 

Joe is a former member of the I.C.C. National Council for Ireland and is a member on a variety of both institutional and industrial panels in Mediation, Conciliation, Arbitration and Adjudication.

I have practised as a mediator since 1999, in all of the above areas. 

I have completed numerous mediations and conciliations up to €50m in value. 

I have acted mostly as sole mediator but have extensive co-mediation experience. 

At every opportunity, with party agreement, I have had an assistant mediator.

Have previously facilitated but have practised on contingency model basis.
