Feedback digest
This Feedback Digest is based on: (a) Eight feedbacks from 3 franchise mediations for the Office of Franchising Mediation (including one with parties who traveled from New Zealand to participate) conducted in NSW between January 2015 and April 2014. The parties reported that Mr McGruther was “excellent and accommodating” and praised him for his effective communication skills and clarity and ease of discussion which improved their understanding of the mediation process and the definition of the issues which led to the resolution of the dispute. (b) Four feedbacks from disputes mediated in the Retail Tenancy Unit in NSW which were all positive. (c) Two feedbacks from Farm Debt mediations conducted in NSW in November 2011 which rated his performance as 8/10 and 10/10. (d) Forty-two feedbacks from participants in seven coaching courses (five day courses) conducted by LEADR – Association of Dispute Resolvers in 2011 and 2012. These were consistently positive ratings ranging from “good” to “very good” and “excellent”. Participants said they found Mr McGruther’s coaching “very helpful” and noted he “provided great practical advice and constructive criticism”. One participant after rating his coaching as consistently excellent commented he was “excellent, encouraging yet pointed out where I could improve”. In addition to the positive feedbacks noted above Mr McGruther has been involved in coaching in the United Kingdom relating to peer review in mediation and I have seen correspondence from Ms Joanna Kalowski who conducted these sessions stating “I hope John Callghan, John McGruther and I will begin the move to Peer Review in Sydney”. I have been closely associated with John McGruther in the dispute resolution aspects of his practice and I am not aware of any negative comments relating to his mediation and coaching skills.
