CONTINUING INTERCULTURAL ACTIVITIES by Lynn Cole, 20 Aug 2023 Mediator Inglis continues her intercultural training in Sierra Leonne. She mediated at training dispute among the “warring” participants over whether pregnant girls should be allowed to continue their schooling. The mediation ended with the disputing parties, not necessarily agreeing but understanding the legitimacy of the other’s perspective. 62 Sierra Leones participated in this event.
In East Java, IMI Mediator participated in a 2-day international training workshop on Mediation and Dialogue at Brawijaya University in East Java, which she co-led 24 students who participated in a mediation simulation. The following day Ms. Inglis and her team presented mediation and dialogue to 120 students.
Mediator Ingliss continues to bring mediators together by expanding global awareness as the Executive Director with The National Mediation Conference Ltd Board. It is the aim of the Board to broaden the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution through developing Conferences focusing on diversity and inclusion. The next Conference is in Wellington Aotearoa New Zealand with the aim of bringing more intercultural awareness to Mediators in the Oceania region. Her role on the board is liaison between the Design Committee base in New Zealand and the Board, based in Australia.

In one feedback the person said that mediation was "extremely daunting" and that Ms. Inglis "made her feel supported" and "she clearly explained the process and expectations." Her mediation was successful due to "the skills Maureen displayed".
Ms. Inglis consistently received over all the highest ratings on overall satisfaction and skill and ability.
In terms of her "skill", one participant, also a psychologist and experienced mediator, stated that "in the face of anger and anxiety of another participant", Ms. Inglis remained "calm under fire" in "her warm, very respectful but clear management of the interactions ... ".
Another said that she provided "an environment where all parties felt valued and respected... ".
All responding said that they were highly satisfied and would recommend her to others.
One reference stated that Ms. Inglis is an "extremely professional practitioner and with the highest ethical standards and integrity". Her conduct was "exemplary at all times". And, another, that she had "excellent communication skills, allowed appropriate time for the process, maintained confidentiality and culturally sensitive".
Another reference stated that Ms. Inglis "has a passion for social justice and diversity, demonstrating a keen awareness of complex diversity issues and the challenging nuances of bringing polarized voices to the table".
