Background:
Peggy Barnes has been mediating since 2005. She comes from a background in Social Welfare and Human Rights. She brings to the mediation table extensive experience in helping people resolve problems and conflicts. She has worked in or with hospitals, schools, courts, a prison, and programs dealing with disaster crises, drugs, illiteracy and elder issues. Her activities have been both domestic and international. The President of the United States gave her an award for Lifetime Contributions to the Community & the Nation. Her understanding of and respect for all types of people makes her uniquely qualified to be a mediator.

She mainly uses a facilitative approach to guide the parties into communication and collaboration. She works diligently to get the parties to design their own agreement but when necessary she is also willing to craft and offer a possible resolution. She has a very common sense approach to mediation.

$250/hour or $400/hour if co-mediated (Fee is split between mediators.) There is a 3 hour minimum. Time may include phone calls, research, mediation session, administrative paperwork. The fee is usually split between the parties. For minor matters where neither party is legally represented the fee is negotiable. For any mediations done outside of Southern California travel expenses will be charged. Travel time is not charged.
