Feedback Digest for Peggy Barnes, Mediator by Jill Frank, 23 Jan 2023 The following is based on 20+ mediation clients’ evaluations plus seven website testimonials.
Peggy Barnes’ feedback comments and mediation evaluations are consistently positive. I have been working with Ms. Barnes since 2015 on Days of Dialogue sessions throughout Los Angeles and on Zoom. Participants consistently report that Barnes is always professional, courteous, and prepared. I have received no negative evaluations about Ms. Barnes.
Many of the participants’ feedback evaluations noted that Barnes is an excellent listener, able to give equal time to all parties, making all people feel “heard.” Parties reported feeling relieved that their conflicts were understood, and that they were able to make progress in resolving their issues, often in just one session. Many comments detailed Barnes’ resourcefulness in working with both parties, gently assisting people to view new ways to perceive their issues, thus leading to resolutions. Several parties noted that when appropriate, Barnes was able to provide helpful suggestions regarding the resolution of the conflict. Parties appreciated that Barnes would acknowledge the emotional difficulties of participating in mediation, and people appreciated being respected for even agreeing to participate in the process.
Many people commented that they were impressed by Barnes’ ability to get both parties to work together. Several evaluations noted that people felt that they would not have been able to resolve their conflict without Barnes’ help. One party said: “Peggy perseveres and quietly moves mountains.” It should be noted that nearly all Barnes’ cases resolve.
In addition to her work with Days of Dialogue, the Post Office, and in her private practice, Barnes has been facilitating dialogues between the Los Angeles Police Department and community members, as well as volunteered with the Canadian Truth Commission on humanitarian issues at the Indian Residential Schools.
Ms. Barnes has contributed to international humanitarian efforts and is looking forward to getting more involved in international peacemaking. She has some remarkable references from high-ranking authorities about her domestic and international dispute resolution efforts.
During the seven+ years that we worked together while I was the Senior Director at the Institute for Nonviolence in Los Angeles, I always found Peggy to be a genuine peacemaker. The work inspires her, and I know that she feels grateful to be able to share her considerable mediation talents as she helps people to resolve their disputes with wisdom, and in peace.

Feedback digest by Sam Konugres, 17 Jul 2018 This Feedback Digest is based on feedback from over 30 mediations, several references and my personal observation of Peggy Barnes as a mediator and colleague. In evaluating Peggy Barnes’ post mediation feedback comments it is clear that parties consistently rated her performance as excellent and would use her again as a mediator in the future. Her costs were found to be very reasonable. Very prominent in the reports were comments that she had the perfect temperament for a mediator being calm and impartial. In many instances, it was also reported that she was considered an excellent and understanding listener and that she really persisted in gaining a full understanding of what each party needed. Many parties remarked upon how they had felt truly understood and how it had brought relief in knowing their viewpoints were recognized. People remarked that she was professional and well prepared. She explained the mediation process well. It was widely noted that she performed her duties in a caring, considerate and competent manner. Her skill and effectiveness in getting both parties to work together was prominently noted. There were many reports of parties saying they could not have resolved their conflict without Peggy’s help. At the beginning there were such feelings of hopelessness, frustration and sometimes emotional upset yet with Ms. Barnes’ skill and perseverance the case resolved. Several comments indicated she has the skill to get the parties to work together and come up with their own resolution but is willing and resourceful in making suggestions if needed. One party seemed to sum it up when he said “Peggy perseveres and quietly moves mountains.” This may account for the fact that nearly all her cases resolve. It should be noted that Ms. Barnes has contributed to international humanitarian efforts and has shown an interest in international peacemaking. Ms. Barnes has some quite remarkable references relating to her humanitarian and conflict resolution activities domestically and internationally including from government dignitaries and high-ranking authorities at home and abroad. In my personal experience I have found Peggy Barnes to be a genuine peacemaker with true intention to help people, groups and communities resolve their conflicts. There were no negative reports.
