Dr. Dendorfer-Ditges is admitted as a lawyer to the courts of Germany as well as to the courts of the State of New York and to the U.S. Federal Courts. She is a partner in the Bonn office of DITGES PartGmbB as well as working in co-operation with the Munich office of HEUSSEN Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH. She studied law and business administration in Bielefeld (Germany), Illinois (USA) for the LL.M. degree and in Maastricht (Netherlands) for the MBA degree. Before her career as lawyer and partner of DITGES PartGmbB, she worked as an Inhouse-Counsel and as the head of the legal departments for several companies. She also was a partner at HEUSSEN Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft for nine years. She specialises in Dispute Resolution, Corporate Law, Labor Law and International Business Law. She also teaches all these subjects in several institutions, e.g. as a part-time Professor of Law at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) in Ravensburg, Germany, as an Honorary Professor for Dispute Resolution at the EBS University for Law and Economics in Wiesbaden, Germany, as well as Visiting Professor at the University of Bielefeld, the Maastricht University, Netherlands and the University of Applied Sciences in Cologne. She is the author of several articles especially in the area of business mediation and arbitration. She has been trained in business mediation in Harvard (Boston, USA) and Germany (FernUniversität Hagen). She is a member of the DIS – German Institution for Arbitration, the CIArb (London), Board Member of EUCON (Munich) and Panelist of CPR (New York). In addition, she has served for several years as Co-Chair for the International Mediation Committee of the ABA – American Bar Association, as well as Liaison Officer for 2014/2015 for the International Section of ABA. She is also certified by the Bundesverband Mediation e.V. as mediator and trainer for mediation. She was elected as the best lecturer for 2005/2006 of the MBA program of Maastricht University and honoured for the program on Business Mediation at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University with the “Landeslehrpreis” of 2005. In addition, she is selected by Who’s Who Legal as one of the leading German Mediators 2012 until 2014 and in 2014 as Best Lawyer for international arbitration by the U.S. publisher „Best Lawyers”.
Dr. Dendorfer-Ditges has practised Mediation since 1998 and specialises in Commercial Mediation, having participated in more than 40 national and international mediation cases in the commercial/business field as mediator and as party representative. The Mediation cases have related to shareholders’ disputes, labor disputes, contract and M & A disputes as well as disputes in the areas of construction and franchising. Examples for international mediation proceedings: - Mediation between Slovenian and German parties in Klagenfurt/Austria (shareholder dispute) - Mediation between U.S. and German parties in New York/USA (Distribution, Franchising) - Mediation between Estonian and German parties in Munich/Germany (Contract Dispute) - Mediation between U.S. and German parties in Zürich/Switzerland (Franchise) - Mediation between Hungarian and German parties in Munich (Dispute M & A transaction) - Mediation between Hungarian and German parties in Cologne (Construction dispute) - Also appointed as mediator by the ICC. Several mediation proceedings on national level in commercial disputes, especially between large DAX listed companies.
The mediation style of Dr. Dendorfer-Ditges can be described as facilitative with evaluative elements, especially focusing on the structure of the process in order to assist the parties for a mutually agreeable resolution. The focus is on asking questions, searching for the parties’ points of view, concentrating on interests underneath the positions and assisting the parties in finding and analysing options for resolution. In addition, proposing separate meetings (Caucus) if necessary, without practicing “shuttle diplomacy” continuously. Joint sessions are preferred in order to support the parties’ influence of the process and to gather information and understanding. The parties should be in charge of the process, supported by the parties’ attorneys and of course by the mediator.
