Parties and counsel who have used Thomas Welby would overwhelmingly use his services again and would, without hesitation, recommend him to others. Typical of the comments reflecting Mr. Welby’s acceptability are: (i) Mr. Welby has extensive knowledge in the field, has an excellent demeanor and is very patient and practical. We have already appointed him in other matters; (ii) I have recommended Mr. Welby for other mediations that we have. He is very effective as a mediator; (iii) Mr. Welby is knowledgeable and effective. I would highly recommend him; (iv) Mr. Welby has an excellent manner. He is direct with the parties and he helped the parties understand each other’s positions; and (v) Mr. Welby was very knowledgeable, detailed and persistent. He is an excellent mediator. Mr. Welby’s mediation skills and abilities are rated as highly effective. Typical of feedback received in this regard are: (i) Mr. Welby was very effective with two very difficult adverse parties. He helped to narrow differences and ultimately get the matter settled; (ii) His patience with difficult parties was very effective. He obviously knows construction and construction law very well; (iii) Mr. Welby exhibited a thorough knowledge of construction issues and made practical suggestions for resolution of our matter; (iv) Tom’s experience came through; (v) Mr. Welby is extremely knowledgeable of the construction industry, both as to legal issues and practical field issues. He is also persistent and persuasive; and (vi) Mr. Welby quickly understood and analyzed the dispute. I found his insight very informative. Costs were widely reported as reasonable in the context of the value of the disputes mediated by Mr. Welby, and in general a very high degree of satisfaction was reported. No reportable negative comments have been received since Mr. Welby’s designation as an IMI Certified Mediator.
