The Mediators' Green Pledge, issued by the World Mediators Alliance against Climate Change, outlines a list of measures that mediators can take to reduce the climate impact of their work. View the pledge at https://womacc.org/take-the-green-pledge/.
My motivation to be a conflict management professional was sourced from two perspectives. One, the disturbed internal dynamics I witnessed at my previous work company which demanded me to play a role of a mediator over being a mere lawyer. Second, by witnessing the societal issues being faced by the civil society in India.
My passion for mediation dates back to my undergraduate studies. My first mediation task was assisting in a divorce case at a local court in India that involved a mandatory mediation process. Although the process meant no more than transiting through the procedure ordered by the Judge, it grabbed my attention towards the real essence of resolving disputes through alternative methods. This experience highlighted the need to resolve more disputes through alternative methods. This instance ignited my desire to extend my knowledge and to specialize in the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR).
Current Position:Â
- Conflict Management Professional and Private Mediator at Dialogue den.
- Operations Manager in the Young Mediators’ Initiative team with the International Mediation Institute Team
- Club Manager of MasterPeace Karnataka Club of the MasterPeace Organisation
- Educator of Legal Studies, Mediation Skills and Value Education to the youth-age group at the Royal Concorde International School, Kalyan Nagar
My previous work experience empowered me with a good grasp on corporate laws, commercial contracts, foreign trade, secretarial due diligence, labour laws, statutory audit, governance audit, secretarial compliance, legal drafting, legal research as well as on-field work like client management & courtroom duties.
In the past, I worked in the field of mediation from three dimensions. One, as a mediation mentee to two full-time family and commercial dispute mediators; in which I observed & assisted in the mediation sessions, drafted summaries & settlement agreement, as well as assisted in the arrangement of the mediation rooms before the sessions. Two, I drafted the mediation role play simulation exercises for the 40-hour mediation training programs. Three, I was on a project, developing an educative platform at a ground level in India, by teaming up with senior Indian & Hong Kong mediation professionals; to bring specialized mediation training & international mediation accreditation to India.Â
